Presently, the Ola cabs work with Google’s navigation system — Google Maps. Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola’s founder and CEO has confirmed the development in a tweet. Aggarwal tweeted, “Testing our own Ola maps! Will be live in the Ola app and our vehicles in a couple of months!”

As per the Ola CEO, the company is working on developing an application program interface which will enable other developers to install Ola Maps in their apps or vehicles. “Will also be making a dev API for all those who want to use world-class maps for India in their apps,” added Aggarwal.

Presently, no other information about Ola Maps is available right now. However, it is expected that the company may use the government’s NavIC system to create its maps service.
Ola to enter premium EV category
Recently, Ola announced that it is all set to enter the premium EV category by introducing 10,000 cars. In a statement given to the Times of India, Ola said, “Ola’s new premium fleet will be operated by the top-rated drivers, and will provide benefits like 100% ride assurance post allocation of the cab, zero cancellations, and facilitate 100% cashless payments.”
“Our roadmap of developing in-house core technologies and products that can be leveraged across group level gives us a competitive advantage in the ride hailing business. We are completely reimagining this segment to not only improve the driver and consumer experience but also offer clean and green mobility options eventually to 500 million Indians,” added the company.
