Ola S1 electric scooter customers getting upgraded to Ola S1 Pro for free, but there’s a catch | 91mobiles.com
Ola says that when the booking window for the scooters opened, the number of bookings was high for the more expensive Ola S1 Pro instead of the cheaper S1. In this regard, the relatively small portion of customers who ordered the S1 will automatically be upgraded (whether they like it or not) to the S1 Pro, sans the special features.
In order to gain access to the scooter’s software-enables features like hyper mode, hill hold, cruise control and voice assistant, customers will have to pay Rs 30,000. This effectively puts the total cost in line with the Ola S1 Pro. Both the Ola S1 and S1 Pro come with the same 7-inch touchscreen interface, frame, an octa-core processor, suspension, and body panels. However, the S1 Pro gets five colour options but the company says the customer will receive the S1 Pro in the same shade they ordered the S1.
All this sounds like customers aren’t receiving any major benefits in return and are forced to pay Rs 30,000 even if they aren’t willing to. The Ola S1 Pro is claimed to offer a range of 181 km, the battery takes 4 hours 48 minutes to charge completely and promises a top speed of 115 kph. In comparison, the standard S1 offers 121 km range, 90 kmph top speed and 6 hours 30 minutes charging time.
Ola in a statement said “Customers get access to the best-in-class hardware at the same price as the Ola S1. In the future, if you’d like to unlock the amazing software features, range and the full potential of the Ola S1 Pro, you can do so by paying Rs 30,000.“
