OnePlus 11: First impressions – Times of India
OnePlus 11 is here. OnePlus has launched its much-teased flagship smartphone — OnePlus 11 in India. The smartphone comes with a starting price tag of Rs 56,999 and it can be purchased in two colour options. The high-end smartphone packs all the essential features that one would want from a premium smartphone. We used this new OnePlus offering for sometime and here’s our first impressions of the same.
Design
OnePlus 11 does look and feel like a premium Android smartphone. The smartphone has borrowed some of its design elements from the last year launched, the OnePlus 10 Pro. The only major differentiator between the two smartphones is the shape of the camera bump. The OnePlus 10 Pro has a square shaped camera bump, while the OnePlus 11 sports a circular camera module which has the Hasselblad branding and houses the triple rear camera. Our smartphone comes in two colour options and we got the black variant. The shinny back panel adds a bling to the smartphone and the smooth rear panel makes it comfortable to use and hold with one hand. The company has brought back the famous alert slider with the OnePlus 11. The alert slider and the power buttons are placed on the right, while the volume rockers are located on the left. The bottom part houses the USB Type-C charging port. In all the smartphone scores well in the design segment and comes across as a sleek and stylish smartphone.
Display
OnePlus 11 sports a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ display with 1440×3260 pixel resolution. The curved edge display on the flagship smartphone offers variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. The display of the smartphone is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top. The display offers up to 1300 nits of brightness which makes it easy to use under direct sunlight. The display on the high-end smartphone is surrounded by thin bezels on all sides that offer maximum viewing space to the users. The vibrant display also offers wide viewing angles allowing you to enjoy your gaming and binge watching sessions on the smartphone. Apart from this, the display appears to be smooth and crisp and the colour reproduction was also sharp and accurate.
Hardware and software
The OnePlus 11 packs the most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The smartphone offers two variants — 12GB+256GB and 16GB+512GB. The smartphone does not come with microSD card support. OnePlus 11 performed really well during our initial testing. The smartphone delivered lag free performance during multitasking and also while playing games.
Along with the powerful Android processor, the OnePlus 11 also packs a large battery with 100W fast charging support. The premium OnePlus smartphone is backed by a 5000 mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. The company claims that the smartphone will charge from 0 to 100% in just 25 minutes. However, we are yet to test this claim as well. The dual SIM smartphone comes equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers for better sound output.
Coming to software, the OnePlus 11 runs Android 13 operating system topped with the company’s own layer of OxygenOS 13. The smartphone offers a clean user interface but has its share of bloatware apps which you cannot uninstall. The smartphone consists of an app drawer which keeps all your apps in one place and keeps your homescreens clutter free. The smartphone offers all the native Android 13 features which we will cover in the detailed review.
Camera
Like the other flagship OnePlus smartphones, the OnePlus 11 also comes with a Hasselblad-powered camera. The smartphone sports a triple rear camera which comprises 50MP main camera with Sony IMX890 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, a 48MP ultra-wide camera with Sony IMX581 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, and 32MP RGBW telephoto lens. Along with this, users also get a 16MP front camera for capturing selfies and answering video calls. The camera worked fine during our initial testing. The images captured during daylight turned out to be sharp and crisp. For the complete camera analysis you will have to wait for our review of OnePlus 11.
What we think
The OnePlus 11 is definitely a good looking smartphone which also delivers a flawless performance. The smartphone will face competition from the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone. However, for a complete and better verdict on the smartphone we will have to wait for its India launch to happen.
