OnePlus 7 and 7T start receiving Android 12 update: What is new – Times of India
The OnePlus Nord 2T smartphone is now official in India. Apart from the new device launch, the Chinese phone maker has also announced the release of the Oxygen OS update based on Android 12 for some older phones. According to a report by GSMArena, the company has updated its blog post to announce that the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T smartphones will soon receive the Android 12 upgrade. The beta version of the update was halted earlier by OnePlus, however, the company will now re-allow users to download the Oxygen OS 12 Open Beta 1. The report mentions that the beta version will offer all-new Android 12 features and it will be available on these devices — OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro smartphones.
Basic requirements to install the Android 12 open beta version
The company has stated in its blog that devices that are running on Oxygen OS 11.0.7.1 or 11.0.8.1 will be allowed to test, however, the handset needs to have at least 4 GB of free storage. Moreover, if users are not satisfied with the new OS they can always roll back to the Android 11 build.
New features added with the update
As per the report, these are the following features that will be added to all OnePlus 7 phones with this Oxygen OS 12 beta 1 update:
System updates: The Oxygen OS 12 beta 1 update will add the Smart Battery Engine, a feature that increases the device’s battery life and is based on smart algorithms and biomimetic self-restoration technology. The new update will offer redesigned app icons, improved page layout, optimised desktop icons with better textures and advanced spam block rules that also adds a rule for blocking MMS messages.
Gaming updates: The new update will add the HyperBoost end-to-end frame rate stabilizer to the OnePlus 7 devices. Moreover, the Oxygen OS 12 update will also add a new Voice effect preview that will allow users to record and check their voice effects in real-time.
Dark Mode and Shelf updates: OnePlus 7 smartphones will now be able to support Dark Mode in three adjustable levels. Apart from that, the new update will also add new additional style options for Cards and newly added access to the OnePlus Scout in Shelf that will allow users to search multiple contents on their phone.
Gallery and Canvas AOD update: The new update will make the gallery layout more pleasing by allowing users to switch between different layouts with a two-finger pinch gesture, identifying the best pictures and intelligent cropping of thumbnails. Meanwhile, Canvas Always-On Display (AOD) will offer a more personalised lock screen experience, will support colour adjustments, will optimise the software algorithm and will also offer improved face recognition.
Accessibility updates: OnePlus 7 smartphones will now offer optimised categorisation of functions and TalkBack support for more system apps including Photos, Phone, Mail, and Calendar.
