oneplus 9t: OnePlus may not launch OnePlus 9T in 2021

In the last year or so, BBK-owned consumer technology brand OnePlus has been undergoing a lot of changes. First, the company launched an affordable lineup with mid-range processors thereby deviating from the flagship-only strategy. Then, last month it announced a deeper integration with sister company Oppo. Now, most recently, its latest handset — OnePlus Nord 2 5G — features a MediaTek processor, which is a first for the brand as it has stuck to Qualcomm processors before that.
But it appears that the company isn’t done with all the changes in this year. If a new rumour is to be believed, the company will not be launching the ’T’ variant of its annual flagship handset.
This was tipped by Max J, the tipster who in the past has been right about past OnePlus handsets, on Twitter who in a short tweet said, “No 9T.” When asked about a Pro variant of the OnePlus 9T Pro in a reply to this tweet, he said no to that as well.

Possible reasons for no OnePlus 9T series
The tipster hasn’t mentioned any reason as to why OnePlus may not launch the OnePlus 9T series. It could either be a change in the strategy to offer a single flagship model in a year or a result of a global chip shortage. But till the company doesn’t state anything officially, everything is speculation.
Whether or not OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 9T series, it should become certain around October. This is because the ’T’ series from OnePlus got launched around that time ahead of the festive sales. Last year too, OnePlus launched The OnePlus 8T in October.
A shift in the strategy for OnePlus?
If OnePlus does plan to ditch the plans for the OnePlus 9T, then it is quite certain that the brand is opting for a shift in the strategy and the way it plans to position its brand in the Indian smartphone market.
This is because the company will no longer be bi-annually upgrading its flagship series, while at the same time, it has already launched two new handsets in the Nord lineup within a gap of a month. The brand has so far aimed to cater to the needs of those who are looking for flagship-level specs at a much more affordable price. But this year, it appears OnePlus fans will get more options in the mid-range segment as compared to the flagship range.
