OnePlus Nord 2 5G: OnePlus Nord 2 5G launch confirmed, to be first OnePlus smartphone to come with MediaTek processor – Times of India
OnePlus has officially confirmed the name of its next OnePlus handset that it will launch in India. As it was being widely tipped, OnePlus is going to launch the OnePlus Nord 2 5G.
It has not even been a month since the company launched OnePlus Nord CE 5G and now the brand is set to launch the OnePlus Nord 2 5G.
First OnePlus smartphone with MediaTek processor
Till now, all OnePlus smartphones that were launched in the country were powered by Qualcomm processors. Until some time ago, the company was restricted to only flagship smartphones and it is only recently that it started incorporating mid-range Qualcomm processors.
However, now OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus Nord 2 5G will come powered by a MediaTek processor — Dimensity 1200-AI.
MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI vs MediaTek Dimensity 1200
According to the company, it has partnered with the Taiwanese chipmaker to enhance the AI-based features of the Dimensity 1200 and in order to distinguish it from the standard Dimensity 1200, it is going to refer to the OnePlus Nord 2 5G’s chipset as Dimensity 1200-AI.
JC Hsu, corporate VP and GM of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit said that the Dimensity 1200-AI is the first example of MediaTek’s Dimensity Open Resource Architecture initiative. This is an optimised powerful Dimensity 1200 5G chipset that is aimed to deliver a customised experience for OnePlus users, suggests Hsu.
OnePlus Nord 2 5G features confirmed
OnePlus has confirmed that the camera of the Nord 2 5G will come with AI Photo Enhancement for still photography. It will be able to recognise up to 22 different photography scenarios and automatically adjust the colour tones.
For videos, the Nord 2 5G will come with an AI Video Enhancement feature that would enable live HDR effects in real-time during recording.
In the gaming department, users of Nord 2 5G will get features like high refresh rate, low latency, improved heat management, and efficient power consumption.
