OnePlus Nord 2 CE launch date tipped, likely to be OnePlus’ most affordable 5G phone

OnePlus entered the affordable premium segment in India in 2020 with its Nord series. The company launched the first Nord series smartphone in July 2020 at Rs 24,999 onwards. If sales numbers have to go by, OnePlus Nord did reasonably well in the market. Last year, OnePlus not only launched the successor to OnePlus Nord, but also a more affordable version of the phone – Nord CE. The Nord CE launched in June 2021 at Rs 22,999 onwards. Now new reports suggest that OnePlus is reportedly planning to launch the OnePlus Nord 2 CE smartphone in the coming months

OnePlus calls Nord CE, Core Edition of Nord series, the device that offers all the essential features. There were also reports that the Nord CE 2 smartphone will be called OnePlus Ivan. However, the latest Tweet from popular tipster Max Jambor suggests more predictable Nord CE 2 as the name. In his Tweet, Max has shared an image that reveals the name and launch date of the smartphone, and it also teases the camera module on the device.

As per the image, OnePlus Nord 2 CE 5G smartphone will be launched on February 11. Similar date was also predicted by several other tipsters previously. However, the date seems too early considering that the company just launched the OnePlus 9RT in India.

As of now, OnePlus has not shared any official information about the rumoured device but it is expected to be one of the most affordable 5G smartphones from OnePlus. According to previous reports, the smartphone will also be available in the Indian market soon as it was spotted on the BIS certification website.

OnePlus Nord 2 CE rumoured specifications

OnePlus Nord 2 CE is rumoured to feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED display. The display is tipped to have a refresh rate of 90Hz. Under the hood, the device is said to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage capacity.

When it comes to camera, the smartphone is rumoured to sport a triple camera setup at the rear, consisting of 64MP primary OmniVision lens, 8MP ultra-wide lens and 2MP macro lens. For selfies and video calls, the device is rumoured to have a 16MP camera at the front. The smartphone is expected to run on Android 12 based OxygenOS 12 out of the box. The reports also reveal that the smartphone will be backed by a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging.

The device is rumoured to be a watered-down version of the OnePlus Nord 2 CE. To recall, Nord 2 was launched in July last year and it features a 6.43-inch AMOLED punch-hole display with 90Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. In terms of camera, it gets a 50MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup at the back and a 32MP selfie shooter at the front.
