OnePlus Pad is likely just around the corner

C. Scott Brown / Android Authority

TL;DR

  • The first OnePlus tablet — tentatively known as the OnePlus Pad — is heavily rumored.
  • A new rumor supports the idea that it could launch in 2023.
  • Not much else is known about the tablet as of yet.

Google is making a huge effort to make Android tablets a thing again. It’s launching its own tablet in 2023, is updating Android itself to be more tablet-friendly, and encouraging developers to focus on tablet-friendly apps. Now is the best time, more than ever before, for Android OEMs to focus on tablets.

And what do you know, we have a new rumor supporting the idea that a OnePlus Pad could be on the way. This time, the rumor stems from popular leaker Max  Jambor:

OnePlus has a tablet in development.
Launch is scheduled for next year! #OnePlusPad

If OnePlus does release a tablet in 2023, it would be the company’s first entry into this market. Although OnePlus has released a slew of phones over the years, tablets have never been on its roster.

Unfortunately, not much else is known about the possible OnePlus Pad — we don’t even know if that’s its real name.

However, Oppo just launched the Oppo Pad. Considering how the companies are essentially interchangeable at this point, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the OnePlus tablet borrow a lot from that one. It’s possible it could even be a direct clone.

We’d expect more rumors about this tablet to leak over the coming months. It’s very possible we could see it as early as January alongside the launch of the OnePlus 11. Stay tuned.
