TL;DR
- OnePlus has cut the price of the OnePlus 9 series in the US.
- It’s unclear if this is a temporary or permanent move.
OnePlus has had a reputation for delivering more affordable flagship phones than big-name brands, but Google’s Pixel 6 series has undercut the OnePlus 9 range. Now, it looks like OnePlus has taken action in the US.
Android Police‘s Prasham Parikh spotted discounted prices of $599 and $799.99 for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro respectively via the likes of Amazon and Best Buy. The former price tag is in line with the standard Pixel 6, while the $799 price tag for the OnePlus 9 Pro is actually $100 cheaper than the Pixel 6 Pro.
Compared to the Pixel 6 series, the OnePlus 9 phones deliver faster 65W wired charging and a higher resolution ultra-wide camera. On the other hand, the standard Pixel 6 has an IP68 rating (missing from unlocked OnePlus 9s) and wireless charging (missing from the Indian variant).
Opt for the OnePlus 9 Pro over the Pixel 6 Pro and you lose out on a 5,000mAh battery and periscope zoom camera (it has a 3X telephoto lens instead) but gain 50W wireless charging.
