OnePlus shows off Nord N20, confirms US release soon
TL;DR
- OnePlus has revealed renders of the Nord N20.
- The US-bound phone will also have a 60Hz OLED screen and in-display fingerprint sensor.
- The phone is confirmed to launch later this month although pricing isn’t known just yet.
OnePlus has seen some solid growth in the US since expanding in the market a few years ago, with the firm’s budget phones primarily responsible for this growth. Now, the manufacturer has revealed a few more details about its upcoming US budget phone.
OnePlus revealed to PC Mag that the upcoming Nord N20 smartphone will have a 6.43-inch 60Hz OLED screen as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor. A company executive suggested that it was a choice between a 60Hz OLED and a 90Hz LCD panel.
For what it’s worth, a 2020 Android Authority poll found that almost three-quarters of surveyed readers would take a 60Hz OLED display over a high refresh rate LCD screen. So it seems like the company made the correct choice here.
OnePlus Nord N20: What else to know?
The executive added that the OnePlus Nord N20 would have Oppo’s SuperVOOC charging, although we’re guessing it’ll be ~30W like its predecessor and other recent budget Oppo phones.
Otherwise, the firm also shared an image of the phone with PC Mag (seen at the top of the page), showing a left-aligned punch-hole cutout and triple rear camera setup. This is in line with previously leaked renders by OnLeaks and 91mobiles.
OnePlus didn’t divulge any other specs, but 91mobiles previously claimed that the Nord N20 would have a Snapdragon 695 chipset, a 48MP+2MP+2MP triple rear camera setup, and will measure in at 159.8 x 73.1 x 7.7mm.
There’s no word on pricing but the OnePlus Nord N10 came in at $300, so we’d expect a similar price tag here. Nevertheless, OnePlus says the phone will launch in the US later this month.
