OnePlus to reportedly bring back this feature in future smartphones
OnePlus launched the OnePlus 10T smartphone in India last night (August 3). The high-end OnePlus smartphone lacked one trademark feature of OnePlus smartphones — the alert slider. OnePlus 10T is the second smartphone of the company to ditch the alert slider as OnePlus 10R also comes without the physical button. However, the company claims that it has not done with the slider button and will try to incorporate it in the future OnePlus devices.
The OnePlus 10T is the first flagship grade smartphone of the company to ditch the alert slider. The company introduced the alert slider with the launch of OnePlus Two. The alert slider is a physical button which enables users to quickly switch the smartphone from mute, vibrate and ringing mode.

Why did OnePlus decide to remove the alert slider?
As reported by 9to5Google, OnePlus mentioned that it removed the alert slider in order to save space on the OnePlus 10T. The company ditched the slide button to make space for ‘high wattage charging, a large battery capacity, and better antenna signal’. The company adds that the OnePlus 10T needs two charging pumps so that it can charge faster than the OnePlu 10 Pro. On the other hand, the company also needs space for accommodating a 15-antenna system in the smartphone so that users get improved signal quality when they hold the smartphone horizontally. The company further elaborates, the slider button appears to be small, but it takes up a lot of space on the inside.
OnePlus to include slider button in future devices
The report further adds that OnePlus is planning to overcome this technical challenge and will try and include the alert slider in future devices. “Our product team plans to overcome this technical and design challenge in future devices so we can deliver improved technologies while retaining our signature alert slider. While the OnePlus 10T does not have the alert slider, this does not mean it will be removed from all future OnePlus devices”, OnePlus told 9to5Google.
