Only Apple iPhone 14 Pro models to get new A16 Bionic chip: Kuo

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via 9to5Mac) predicts that the iPhone 14 series would use two different processors to draw a line between standard and Pro models. In a tweet, Kuo suggests that upcoming Pro models would be the only ones to get the new A16 Bionic chip while the standard models would be powered by the current generation A15 Bionic chip. He further suggests that all the models would come with 6GB of RAM, but the Pro’s would use the LPDDR5 memory while the non-Pro models would have the LPDDR4X memory unit same as the iPhone 13 models.

Not just that, Kuo also tweets that the iPhone 14 would have a 6.1-inch display while the iPhone 14 Max might come with a 6.7-inch display. And the Pro models would also have the same size – a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.

We expect Apple to differentiate the standard and Pro models with more specification differences despite having similar sizes. First, the Pro and non-Pro models would be using the different chips, then Pro’s would come with a 120Hz ProMotion display, and there would be some differences in the camera department, giving the Pro an edge over the standard models.

In a recent blog post, DSCC’ Ross Young suggests that the upcoming iPhones would have a very distinct design than the current iPhones. According to his predictions, Apple plans to replace the notch in every iPhone model with the pill-shaped cutout within the next 18 months. The iPhone 14 series is expected to release later this year in September.
