OPPO foldable phone matching previously leaked design spotted on patent website | 91mobiles.com

Back in 2019, OPPO demoed a prototype foldable smartphone of its own and we never heard back from the brand about it. While OPPO showcased a rollable smartphone, dubbed the OPPO X 2021 in the meantime, the company’s first-ever foldable is yet to see the light of the day. Well, if recent rumours are to be believed, it won’t take the brand much longer to unveil its first-ever foldable. OPPO is reportedly gearing up to launch the same in November. Yes, the OPPO Fold (or whatever the final name would be) is tipped to launch this month itself and today, we have an interesting find for you. We’ve spotted a new patent for a foldable smartphone filed by OPPO on CNIPA and the patent images take us back to 2019 and remind us of the said prototype. This could very well be what the OPPO’s first foldable could look like. See for yourself.

OPPO files patent for a foldable phone – is this the one?

As seen in the patent images above, this is what the OPPO’s foldable smartphone could look like. The power button and the volume up/down buttons are on the right side of the device. In any case, they could not be accommodated to the left side, as that portion is, well, the device’s exterior display. Turns out the smartphone will have an external folding display, much like the Huawei Mate X series.

The device will feature a vertical camera module. While it’s too difficult to tell, we can safely assume that it’s at least tall enough to fit a trio of lenses. At the top, we can see the device’s SIM tray and at the bottom, there’s a USB Type-C charging port and the device’s speaker.

So far, this is all the information that we have on the brand’s upcoming foldable, and while the patent images fall in line with the prototype the company showed to us last year, one year is a lot of time and the final design could even have undergone some changes. It, therefore, is suggested to take things with a slight grain of salt till the time things become officially clear. In any case, we might have just had our first look at OPPO’s first foldable smartphone, courtesy of these patent images.
