Oppo receives new patents from three new smartphone designs with rear display
Soon after filing patents for three different approaches for foldable smartphones, BBK-owned smartphone brand Oppo has secured three new design patents. All three patents carry a common factor and that’s a small rear display around the camera housing.
Oppo Mobile Telecommunications filed the patent in April and on December 23, the patent got its approval and was included in the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), according to a LetsGo Digital report.
According to the report, all the three designs have a secondary display at the back around the camera housing. The design, shape and size, however, is different on each model.
The first and third design features a big rounded camera housing and the secondary display is placed in the middle of the camera sensor. The first image has a circular display, while the third image has a rectangular display.
The second image is completely different from the other two. It carries a dual camera setup with a relatively bigger rectangular secondary display.
The patent application does not clarify anything about the implementation of the feature or which series of the phone will get the feature first. However, it is not the first time we are seeing a thing like this.
Xiaomi has already put a tiny fitness band-like display at the back that shows basic information like battery, notifications, etc.
