Oppo Reno 8 could be the OnePlus 10 we never had

TL;DR

  • An Oppo Reno 8 render has appeared online courtesy of a leaker.
  • The image shows a phone that looks very similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro.
  • The Reno 8 has a smaller screen than the OnePlus 10 Pro though.

OnePlus has offered standard and Pro version of its flagship phones since 2019’s OnePlus 7 series, but it bucked this trend in 2022. This year’s OnePlus 10 Pro wasn’t accompanied by a vanilla OnePlus 10, but it seems like an upcoming Oppo phone could be the OnePlus 10 that never was.

Frequent tipster Digital Chat Station posted a render of the Oppo Reno 8 on Weibo (h/t: XDA-Developers and Abhishek Yadav), and the phone bears a striking resemblance to the OnePlus 10 Pro. Check out the image at the top of the page.

More specifically, the Reno 8’s camera housing design is virtually identical to the OnePlus flagship, down to the location of the flash. We don’t get Hasselblad branding on the camera bump though, but we do see a colorway that looks similar to the Volcano Black OnePlus 10 Pro.

What do you think of the leaked Oppo Reno 8 design?

Digital Chat Station also claims that the phone will have a 6.55-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen compared to the OnePlus 10 Pro’s 6.7-inch QHD+ display. So this definitely doesn’t seem like a simple OnePlus 10 Pro rebrand then. The tipster adds that the phone will have a 50MP IMX766 main camera.

There’s no word on other details such as the chipset, battery capacity, and pricing/availability. But hopefully the Reno 8 takes the fight to the likes of the Google Pixel 6 and Samsung Galaxy S21 FE if we aren’t getting a vanilla OnePlus 10.
