Own an LG TV? You can now watch these blockbuster shows for free
If you have an LG TV in your living room, you can now stream thousands of hours of television for free. Yes, really. LG has partnered with Apple to bring three months of free access to Apple TV+ to its customers. And the best part is – this promotion isn’t just for those who buy a new television, but for anyone who already owns a model that was bought during or after 2016.
If you weren’t already aware, Apple TV+ is a relatively new streaming service that features a swathe of original shows and movies. Those signing up will get instant access to its biggest shows, including the award-winning Ted Lasso, The Morning Show which stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, and Slow Horses starring Academy Award winner Gary Oldman. Alongside these popular shows, there’s also documentaries such as The Year Earth Changed, Boys State, and Tiny World.
And new titles debuting this month include Dr. Brain, the first Korean language original series based on the widely popular Korean webtoon by Hongjacga and Finch, which stars Tom Hanks. This marks the Academy Award winner’s second foray on Apple TV+, following the acquisition of his World War thriller, Greyhound.
If that sounds good to you, LG says customers can try it for three months. After that trial period, it’ll cost £9.99 a month.
The offer is available in the LG Content Store. In the store, you should find on-screen instructions to redeem the freebie. If not, some TVs will now include an Apple TV+ advertisement banner on the LG TV home menu to shout about the promotion. Clicking on that will take you through the steps to get your free streaming account up-and-running.
It comes as Sky announced plans to bring Apple TV+ to its Sky Q and Sky Glass devices in the coming weeks. This means viewers will be able to access all of Apple’s content without a separate streaming device.
Apple TV+ now joins Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video which also all launched on Sky Q in recent years.
Speaking about the update, Dana Strong, Group Chief Executive, Sky said: “With the addition of Apple TV+ our customers can now enjoy phenomenal shows like The Morning Show, Trying and Ted Lasso, together with our own award-winning Sky Originals, and the best content and apps from our partners, all on Sky Glass, the streaming TV from Sky, or Sky Q, our market-leading Sky box.”
