After 70 years on the throne, the Queen passed away on Thursday at the age of 96 after a historic reign. A statement from the Royal Family shared on Twitter said Her Majesty “died peacefully at Balmoral” with the UK now in a period of national mourning. If you want to pay tribute to our longest serving monarch one way you can do so is to change your profile picture to show you’re thinking of Queen Elizabeth II.
Facebook typically releases custom-made profile picture frames which you can add to your profile by clicking here.
At the time of writing, a frame that pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II isn’t available yet, but one could become available in the future.
Until a frame commemorating Queen Elizabeth is released social media users have a few alternatives.
You can of course change your profile picture on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to one of the Queen, or you can change your banner image on Facebook and Twitter to one of Her Majesty.
If you’re changing your profile image to one of the Queen on Facebook then you can also choose to make it a temporary profile picture when you go to upload it.
Alternatively, you can try to create your own profile frame that pays tribute to the Queen.
Apps are available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store that let you create your own profile picture frame.
There are a number of these apps are available, but make sure when choosing an app to use that you follow good practice when it comes to these marketplaces – so make sure you download apps with plenty of installs, that are from trusted developers and have a look through the reviews to see if there’s any signs of any concerning issues with the app.
Alternatively, if you have some time and feel happy with basic graphic design you can head to the Canva website.
This page will let you create your own Facebook profile frame which you can customise so it’s just the way you want it.
You’ll also have to add your profile picture when designing your frame (and make sure you push it to the background of the image), but there are a number of templates available to get you started.
One example of the frames you can create is shared in this article, but you’ll be able to create a wide variety of different frames on Canva.
If you don’t feel comfortable creating your own profile frame then you can wait to see if Facebook ends up releasing an official one for the site.
