Paytm launches ABHA Health Locker: How to create an account, store and access health documents – Times of India
What is ABHA?
Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) is a unique 14-digit health number provided to every Indian citizen to access healthcare services and personal medical records. A QR code is generated once ABHA is created and that code can be scanned at hospitals as well as clinics during an emergency to instantly share the user’s medical history.
What documents can we store in Paytm ABHA Health Locker?
A user can upload various health-related documents in the Paytm ABHA Health Locker. These may include health insurance policy, diagnostic reports, prescriptions, medical bills, Covid-19 vaccine certificates, and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) Cards, among others.
PMJAY is the world’s largest health assurance scheme that aims to provide a health cover of Rs 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation to poor families in the country.
Paytm says that the ABHA Health Locker has been approved by the National Health Authority and the data on Paytm Health Locker will remain private and secured due to the service’s robust security and encryption mechanisms. Additionally, being a part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, Paytm is also a certified Public Health Record app.
The locker will be handy in situations where patients have to carry large folders to hospitals and/or lots of documents. The locker will essentially remove the need to carry medical records (just like we stopped carrying cash), especially in case of an emergency.
“Our aim is to ensure that digital health services reach the maximum number of people, strengthening the healthcare services,” a Paytm spokesperson said in a statement.
