POCO M2 receives Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update in India: check features, specs


Xiaomi is rolling out a new firmware update for the POCO M2 which will include the upgrade to Android 11 as well as MIUI 12.5. The POCO M2 was launched last year with Android 10 and MIUI 12. The phone arrives as rebranded Redmi 9 Prime with a similar design and specifications. The POCO phone performed well in the Indian market. The POCO M2 is now receiving its first major software update with the rollout of Android 11 and MIUI 12.5. This update is long-awaited as Google is already readying the rollout of Android 12. POCO M2 Android 11 update features

The Android 11 update for POCO M2 comes with firmware version V12.5.1.0.RJRINXM, as spotted by RootMyGalaxy. A close look at the changelog reveals that the device will get a performance boost. The POCO M2 will also respond to gestures quicker as MIUI 12.5 is lighter, faster, and more stable as compared to MIUI 12. The POCO M2 comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel (1080 x 2340 pixels) with ppi count of 395. The waterdrop notch display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Powering the device is an Helio G80 chipset from MediaTek with Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. The processor is paired with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and with up to 64GB of internal storage. Being a budget device, the POCO M2 comes with an expandable storage option of up to 512GB.

At the back, the POCO M2 gets a quad-camera set up which includes a 13MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors. The front camera duties are handled by an 8MP shooter. The smartphone draws power from a 5000mAh battery and charges at 18W. The POCO M2 also ships with a fingerprint sensor, 4G capability, Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack as well an IR Blaster.
