Fortunately, most smartphones are capable of simultaneously taking photos while shooting video clips. Is this something you do though? That’s the subject of our survey today, so let us know via our poll below.
Do you take photos while recording video?

It’s a handy feature in theory, giving you the best of both worlds instead of having to choose between the two formats. This way, you’ve got photos of that fleeting moment as well as a video. Even if the moment isn’t fleeting, it simply saves time and effort as you don’t necessarily need to switch between photo and video modes.
On the other hand, photos taken while recording video are generally of a much lower quality than actually using the dedicated photo mode. Snaps taken while recording video are usually just still frames from the video itself, while dedicated photos benefit from additional image processing technology.
We’ve also seen a few companies such as Samsung taking advantage of 8K resolutions with the 8K Video Snap feature. This allows you to go back to a previously recorded 8K video to grab a 33MP still from it, delivering a higher resolution extracted frame/photo than normal 4K video. Go ahead and vote “yes” if you use Samsung’s 8K Video Snap.
