Foldable phones have improved in a pretty substantial way since they first debuted back in 2019. Back then, the Galaxy Fold’s release was delayed due to major hinge/screen issues, the Huawei Mate X’s out-folding design ultimately proved to be the wrong solution for now, and Royole offered the unpolished FlexPai.
Fast-forward to 2021 and there have been some notable improvements for the most part. We’ve also seen the in-folding form factor emerge as the design of choice for large foldables, as well as the rise of clamshell designs for a more pocket-friendly foldable. It’s still early days for the product segment though, and so we want to know what would make you buy a foldable phone. Let us know via the poll below.
Today’s top-flight foldable phones like the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 have improved in a massive way compared before. These devices offer water-resistant designs (but no dust resistance), ultra-thin glass and more durable foldable screens in general, as well as slightly cheaper price tags.
But there are still a few kinks that need to be worked out, such as the display crease, screens that still feel a little soft compared to traditional phone displays, and slimmer, lighter designs overall. What do you think needs to be addressed before you hop aboard? Make your pick above and leave a comment below if you’d like to elaborate.
