Samsung hosted its first major launch event of 2023 in San Francisco, US. Galaxy Unpacked 2023 is the company’s first in-person event since the outbreak of Covid pandemic. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S23 flagship smartphone lineup and GalaxyBook 3 laptop series at the event. The event brought back smartphone industry rivalry with Samsung’s Chinese rival OnePlus taking potshots at the company during the launch event. OnePlus US handle posted a series of tweets mocking the Galaxy S23 series during the Samsung event. The tweets thread titled ‘Our hottest takes about #SamsungUnpacked’
OnePlus making fun of S23 series camera
Samsung Galaxy S23 series key highlight is the camera. Galaxy S23 Ultra marks Samsung’s entry in the 200MP club. Samsung talked at length about the S23 series camera at the event. So little doubt that OnePlus’ first tweet in the thread mocked the camera. “A good director can make any camera look good,” tweeted OnePlus. The tweet referred to Samsung bringing famous photographer Scott Ridley on stage. The thread has more tweets mocking the camera. “That camera is def gonna trigger trypophobia for peeps. Don’t look it up,” tweeted OnePlus. “So does this camera text or take phone calls? #SamsungUnpacked,” goes the another.
OnePlus: Where’s the charger
Apparently making fun of the fact that Galaxy S23 series phones, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra, do not come with a charger, OnePlus tweeted, “Me using the 200mp camera to find a charger in the box. #SamsungUnpacked”. Incidentally, OnePlus still gives chargers with all its phones, across price bands.

OnePlus also made fun of Galaxy S23 series pricing. “Why do they call it the Galaxy? Astronomical pricing,” tweeted the company. “Are we going to see anything without a blockbuster budget? #SamsungUnpacked,” went another tweet.
There are also some tweets about certain new tech that Samsung talked about at the event, including Ray Tracing. “Ray Tracing? Yes I’ve heard of him. ???? #SamsungUnpacked.”
OnePlus also had a tongue in cheek tweet about Samsung’s smartphone portfolio towards the end. “OnePlus➕ @OnePlus_USA· In all fairness, Samsung makes great dishwashers, vacuums, TVs, microwaves, washers, and air purifiers. #SamsungUnpacked,” said the second last tweet from the company post the event.
