Realme confirms a new smartphone powered by Dimensity 1080 chipset to launch this year – Times of India

MediaTek announced its latest mid-range chipset – Dimensity 1080 – yesterday and it looks like we may get to see the chip in action as early as end of the year. Realme’s Vice President Madhav Sheth has confirmed an upcoming Realme smartphone powered by MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 1080 chipset in a tweet.
The tweet reads,
“Mission: 1080 Likes
Reward: The new Dimensity 1080 chipset on upcoming #realme devices this year!
Are you ready for the challenge?”
Sheth’s tweet has just projected the idea of a new smartphone that will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. It does not confirm any exact model of the device and neither the tweet talks anything about the probable launch timeline by which we can expect the smartphone to launch. The only thing clear is if the tweet gets 1080 likes, which it has already crossed, then Realme will launch a smartphone with Dimensity 1080 chipset this year.
Meanwhile, MediaTek Dimensity 1080 5G mobile platform comes with an upgraded octa-core CPU and is based on 6nm process. The chipset is equipped with two Arm Cortex-A78 CPU cores that can be overclocked up to 2.6GHz paired with an Arm Mali-G68 graphics unit.
Apart from that, the chipset also supports up to 200MP camera, sub-6GHz 5G network and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.
The chip also comes with some gaming features like HyperEngine 3.0 with built-in AI processing unit 3.0.
