According to the latest report by Ericsson, four in five smartphone users are interested in acquiring a 5G handset during 2021. So, taking a cue from this, Realme also started expanding its lineup for 5G-enabled smartphones. The company recently introduced the Realme Narzo 30 5G smartphone in the country. Priced at Rs 15,999, the company claims that it is the slimmest smartphone in this segment and it also manages to deliver a smooth performance. The smartphone also promises to give tough competition to its counterparts. So, if you are planning to purchase the 5G-ready Realme Narzo 30 5G, then take a look at its complete review.
Design
Realme Narzo 30 5G claims to be the thinnest 5G smartphone in this segment. It comes with an 8.5mm slim body and is also comfortable to hold. Made of polycarbonate, the rear of the smartphone houses a textured glossy panel. The back panel comes with a different design which is inspired by a raceway pattern strip that reflects light. Calling it a Racing Design, the back of the phone offers a dynamic change of light when the phone is shaken. The glossy back panel of the smartphone houses a quad-rear camera setup and not to forget the Narzo branding. The company is also offering a silicone cover in the retail box which will prevent the rear panel from attracting fingerprints. The ergonomically designed Realme Narzo 30 5G offers a 6.5-inch full HD+ punch-hole display in the front. The right side of the smartphone is home to the power button which also doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. You will find the volume button located on the left with the SIM card tray. The bottom consists of the USB Type C charging port and the 3.5mm audio jack. There is nothing really to complain about the design and build quality of the smartphone.
Display
The display is one of the key highlights of the Realme Narzo 30 5G. The smartphone sports a 6.5-inch full HD+ display with 1080×2400 pixel resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The refresh rate is locked at 90Hz but it is adaptive and you can change it to 60Hz for the app that does not support a high refresh rate. Changing the refresh rate also increases the battery life of the smartphone. However, the fast refresh rate of the display also makes sure that you have a smooth scrolling experience. Apart from this, the display on the Realme Narzo 30 5G offers crisp and punchy colour reproduction. The colours are mostly accurate and you will also not face any issue with the brightness while using the smartphone under direct sunlight. The screen also offers wide viewing angles which makes sure that you face no problem while gaming or binge-watching. Users can also control the colour temperature of the display and can set it as per their needs. Like all the other Realme smartphones, this one also comes with an Eye Comfort mode which reduces the blue light from the screen and prevents eye strain. Realme is offering a pretty good display at this price.
Performance
Realme Narzo 30 5G is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor paired with 6GB RAM. The smartphone offers 128GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 1TB by adding a microSD card. This is the same processor which Realme has used in its recently launched Realme 8 5G smartphone. Following the footsteps of Vivo, now Realme is offering virtual RAM. The Narzo 30 5G has a dynamic RAM expansion technology that allows users to have 11GB RAM with 6GB hardware by converting the ROM to Virtual RAM.
The smartphone manages to perform smoothly when it comes to doing routine tasks. You will not notice any lag while surfing the internet or doing multitasking. You will also notice that the experience will become smoother when you are using the smartphone with a 90Hz refresh rate mode. However, if you are a gamer then this smartphone is not for you. Realme Narzo 30 5G managed to handle some of the games well but if you try to play graphic-intensive games, then you will witness some lag and that is because of the high-quality graphics.
Realme Narzo 30 5G comes with a single speaker and it manages to offer decent sound quality on loudspeaker. The bottom-firing speaker performed well on many occasions. The company has included a 3.5mm audio jack in the smartphone and you get a satisfactory sound experience while using earphones.
Realme Narzo 30 5G runs Android 11 operating system topped with the company’s own layer of Realme UI. Like all the other Realme smartphones this one also offers a neat and clean user interface. The smartphone has an app drawer that allows users to hide all their installed apps and keep the home screen clean. Realme Narzo 5G also comes with some bloatware apps, but now users are allowed to uninstall the ones they don’t use. The Realme UI also offers some privacy features like app protection and file protection which keep your data safe. Along with this, it also comes with a Kids Space feature which enables you to create a child-friendly space on your phone.
Camera
Realme Narzo 30 5G sports a quad-rear camera setup which comprises a 48MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 2MP black and white and a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front is home to a 16MP selfie shooter with f/2.1 aperture. Realme Narzo 30 offers a decent camera experience.
The primary camera on the Realme Narzo 30 5G produces images with good and accurate colour reproduction. You will also notice an ample amount of detailing in the images captured using the main camera. The macro shots taken during daylight turned out fine with a manageable amount of natural blur. The smartphone camera offered an average performance in the portrait mode as we often faced the issue of poor edge detection and inaccurate colours. Along with this, the smartphone also takes a lot of time in processing the image. After clicking an image you will have to wait for a good 10 seconds to see the final result.
Realme Narzo 30 5G delivered a decent camera performance during low light and night photography. The camera does struggle to focus in conditions with poor lights but manages to deliver workable shots. The NighScape mode of the smartphone also does a good job of brightening up the images.
The 16MP selfie camera on the Realme Narzo 30 5G will impress you with its results. You can easily capture good selfies with an ample amount of detail using the smartphone. However, we would advise you to turn off the beauty filter before taking a selfie as it can alter the skin tone and shape of your face.
Battery
Realme Narzo 30 5G is backed by a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. It is interesting to note that the 4G variant of the smartphone comes with 30W charging support, so it is a bit disappointing to see the feature missing in the 5G variant. Moving on, the smartphone does offer a long-lasting battery backup. It manages to last more than a day on a single charge. The battery life is further increased if you set the display refresh rate to 60Hz. With 18W charging support, the smartphone takes two hours to charge completely.
Verdict
With Realme Narzo 30 5G the company attempts to offer a 5G smartphone under Rs 16,000. The smartphone offers a good design and performance. The smartphone also offers a long-lasting battery experience so that you face no issues while on the go. It is a reliable performer and it can be your pick if you are looking for a 5G-ready smartphone that can work smoothly and can offer you a good battery backup.
