Redmi Note 12 to launch in India on January 5

Redmi, a spun-off brand of Xiaomi, today confirmed the arrival of the Redmi Note 12 smartphones in India. The Redmi Note 12 will launch in India on January 5, 2023, joined by the Redmi Note 12 Pro series, consisting of the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+.
The upcoming Redmi Note 12 series, including the vanilla Redmi Note 12, will be 5G enabled. The teaser for the vanilla Redmi Note 12 today went live on Amazon, highlighting the key features of the upcoming Redmi Note smartphone.
As per the teaser, the Redmi Note 12 will feature an AMOLED display, powered by a Snapdragon chipset with a 5G modem, boasting 33W fast charging and a 48MP triple camera setup. Further, the teaser suggests that the Redmi Note 12 will be the slimmest smartphone of the Redmi Note series till now.
Earlier this year, in October, Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 12 series in its home market, China. The Note 12 series there consisted of four models – the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and the Redmi Note 12 Discover Edition.
Out of the four models, Xiaomi is bringing the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+. We can expect the ones launching in India to have similar specifications as the China variant.
Redmi Note 12: What to expect
Redmi Note 12 would feature a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Further, it could be powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, adding support for 5G. The smartphone would come with Android 12 with MIUI 13 out-of-the-box. The smartphone would come with a 5,000mAh battery, while the 33W charging is confirmed
Further, it may have a 48MP+8MP camera setup. The teaser shows Redmi Note 12 with three camera cutouts, so we can expect the Indian variant also to have a tertiary sensor, probably a macro camera. On the front, the smartphone could come with an 8MP sensor.
We expect to learn more about the Redmi Note 12 as the launch nears.
