Rogers fibre customers experience service interruption in Hamilton, Ontario region [Update]

Update: September 10th 4:33pm ET: Rogers has been able to restore services for many of its customers in the Hamilton, Ontario area. The carrier says that it expects all impacted customers to have restored services later today.

Rogers is currently experiencing a service interruption that’s impacting some locations in Hamilton.

Unlike previous Rogers service interruptions, the telecom clearly states that this outage due to a fibre cut caused by a local fire. Rogers’ team is already on site and working to fix this issue.

Rogers subscribers have turned to Down Detector to note their experiences. The website currently indicates that more than 400 people have been affected by this service interruption in the Hamilton area.

The carrier states that this is not impacting wireless services, which makes sense given it’s a fibre issue.

Given this is a fibre issue and the team is already on site, hopefully, this issue is resolved pretty soon. We’ll keep tabs on the situation and update this story as soon as we learn more details.
