Samsung could reveal a first of its kind Android Galaxy phone tomorrow

All eyes will be on Samsung tomorrow with the Korean technology firm holding another of its famous Unpacked events. Things will kick off from around 3pm BST but there’s already been plenty of hints about what could be revealed during the online showcase with Samsung announcing back in June that a new Galaxy Watch will be coming this summer with this wearable set to be powered by a new operating system that’s been created in a joint partnership with Google.

Along with a watch, it seems almost certain that we will also get to see some new phones and they could offer a feature that’s not yet been seen before. In its teaser for the event, Samsung posted a video with the tagline “Get ready to unfold” which is clearly a massive hint that fans will get to see some new foldable devices. An invitation to the event also reads, “Join Samsung Electronics this August 11 for a Galaxy Unpacked event to unfold the next chapter in mobile innovations designed to help you make the most of every moment, no matter where you are.”

Now, phones that bend in half aren’t anything new with Samsung first revealing this technology back in 2019 but if all the rumours surrounding these devices are true then they could be the very first to offer a more robust water-resistant design.

Until now, most bendy devices have felt pretty fragile and owners certainly wouldn’t have felt comfortable using them in a British downpour. Samsung’s first attempt at a foldable phone was even delayed after early reviews noticed the device was easily susceptible to damage.

However, that all looks set to change with the team at SamMobile saying that the new Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will be able to take a dip in the local pool.

To back this IPX rating up, a leaked promotional image also shows the upcoming phones being splashed with water.

If true, it’s pretty impressive stuff from Samsung and could make these phones seem far more appealing.

Another new feature that could be coming to the more premium Z Fold 3 is a selfie camera that’s now hidden behind the display.

This means it will no longer stick out like a very sore thumb when binging on an afternoon of Netflix.

Leaked photos posted by WinFuture claim to show how the new screen will look without the usual selfie snapper punching through it.

Of course, along with these new upgrades we can expect to see all the usual upgrades including a faster processor, improved cameras and faster charging.

Express.co.uk will bring you all the news from this event live as it happens. The Unpacked showcase begins at 3pm so watch this space.
