Samsung Dropship app released for file-sharing across platforms: Details | Digit

Samsung is launching a new app that is aimed at allowing users to transfer files across devices effortlessly. The Dropship app will let you share files with Android and iOS devices and the web. However, the app is currently only available for South Korean users, who can download it from the Galaxy Store. Also, only users with Galaxy phones running on Android 13 based One UI 5.0 (currently available only on the Galaxy S22 series) can only reap benefits from the file-sharing app. Not only that, they also need to have a Samsung account.

How to transfer files via the Dropship App?

Cloud storage is one of the preferred ways people transfer text documents, videos, and images. However, cross-platform content sharing currently appears to be challenging. But, Samsung’s Dropship app promises Galaxy smartphone users a seamless experience.

Samsung’s Community forum shared screenshots of the app via a post which also included a few features of the Dropship app.

The app allows users to transfer files up to 5GB in size daily. However, if you want to send files larger than 5GB, relying on Nearby Share or Quick Share might prove more convenient.

The process is quite simple; the sender must select a file and choose the platform on which he wishes to send the file. Users can create a sharing link along with a profile photo, a message and send it to the desired person. The sender can set the validity period.

Then, the recipient has to either enter the last four digits of the sharing link or scan the generated QR code to receive the file. Meanwhile, the receiver is not required to have the Dropship app or a Samsung account to get the file.

Now although Dropship, currently has a limited availability, Samsung is likely to make the app available in other areas.
