- A Samsung executive said the Galaxy S23 series will be shown at the company’s Unpacked event in February.
- The 2023 Unpacked event would be the first in-person event since the pandemic.
- It’s believed that Samsung could hold the event during the first week of February in San Francisco.
Although we have an idea of what to expect from Samsung’s Galaxy S23, something that has eluded us is the phone’s reveal date. But that may no longer be the case thanks to a Samsung executive familiar with the matter.
While speaking with Korea JoongAng Daily, a Samsung executive told the media outlet that the Galaxy S23 will be introduced at next year’s Unpacked event. “The S23 series will be shown during our own Unpacked event in the United States, which will be held in February,” said the source.
No city or date was given in the statement, but according to Korea JoongAng Daily, the showcase could happen during the first week of February in San Francisco.
Before this new information came out, rumors suggested that the company could show off the handset in Las Vegas during CES 2023. But Samsung has never really used CES for that purpose, so the probability of that happening is unlikely. And given that the next Unpacked event could be the first in-person even since the pandemic, it’s likely Samsung wants all the focus on its showcase.
The Galaxy S23 series is expected to be powered by a higher-clocked version of the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip instead of Samsung’s Exynos chipset. Another new feature that could be coming is a 200MP camera sensor for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. As for the price, it’s anyone’s guess, but for the last two years, the base model has sold for $799, the Plus for $999, and the Ultra for $1,199.
