Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 2022 released: Same phone, cheaper price

David Imel / Android Authority

TL;DR

  • Samsung has announced the Galaxy S20 FE 2022.
  • This is identical to the S20 FE but lacks AKG earphones and is cheaper.
  • The phone is only available in Korea right now.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE marked a significant moment for the company back in 2020, as Samsung offered a great, all-around affordable flagship. The manufacturer recently launched the Galaxy S21 FE after a months-long delay, but it’s now re-releasing the original device.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy S20 FE 2022 in Korea, Naver reported (h/t: GSMArena). But those expecting major changes — or any changes at all — might be disappointed.

According to the Korean outlet, the Galaxy S20 FE 2022 is the same device as the original model. That means a Snapdragon 865 chipset, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery. The phone is also equipped with a 6.5-inch 120Hz OLED panel and a triple rear camera system (12MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 8MP 3x telephoto).

However, the 2022 phone now retails for 699,600 won (~$577) in Korea, reportedly 200,000 won (~$165) off the original price. Korean customers aren’t getting AKG earphones with this model though, and it’s only available in Cloud Lavender, Cloud Navy, and Cloud White.

There’s no word on wider availability, although it must be said that the original Galaxy S20 FE is available at a discounted price from various retailers anyway. We’re also not sure whether the re-released phone gets a separate, longer update commitment of its own or if the phone will reach end-of-life status at the same time as the original model.

We’ve asked Samsung representatives about the Galaxy S20 FE 2022’s availability and update commitment and will update the article if/when they get back to us.
