Samsung Galaxy S22 users complaint of not receiving messages after a recent update
Samsung’s this year’s flagship smartphone — Galaxy S22 –received the September security update. The update fixes around 20 vulnerabilities and bumps the Android security patch to September 2022. It also seems to have broken the texting for some users.
As reported by Pinukiaweb, a number of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra users are not able to receive text messages after the updates; there are multiple threads about the same posted on Samsung Community and Reddit.
While a quick restart seems to fix the issue, it is not permanent, as the same problem appears again after a while. Users say they are being forced to reboot their smartphone again, as they miss out on some important text, and even after rebooting, they get barraged with several texts.
The bug seems to be affecting only users in the US having carrier-locked models of Galaxy S22. Although, it is being faced by users on every carrier including Verizon, T-Mobile, and others. So far, there have been no reports of such issues faced by any user in India.
Even changing the default messaging app does not seem to help much, as the issue seems to plague both Samsung Messages and Google Messages.
It is not clear if there is an issue with the carrier or the smartphone. Neither the network carriers nor Samsung has commented as of now. The only thing a user can do is wait for an update or work their way with the temporary fixes.
