Samsung Galaxy Watch5 vs Galaxy Watch5 Pro: What’s the difference – Times of India

Health-packed Galaxy Watch5, Watch5 Pro unveiled.

Samsung recently refreshed its smartwatch lineup with two new offerings – Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro. The two come with numerous upgrades over the last generation of smartwatches, with the latter breaking into the fitness enthusiast segment.
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro come with an eye-catchy look and the new WearOS-based OneUI Watch 4.5, but is the titanium build and bigger size of the Galaxy Watch5 Pro worth the extra money? We compare two smartwatches and find out.
Samsung Galaxy Watch5 vs Galaxy Watch5 Pro: Design and display
The Galaxy Watch5 and Watch 5 Pro look more distinct than ever. The Galaxy Watch5 has the same design as the last-generation Watch4, but the Watch5 Pro has an all-new rugged design, very much like the Garmin smartwatches.
The Galaxy Watch5 comes in a sleek and minimalist design, while the Watch5 Pro has this beefy rugged look going for it. And one major difference between the two is that the Watch5 Pro has a titanium case. However, the Watch5 Pro ditches the good old rotating bezel, and if you still want that, you will have to go for the older Galaxy Watch4 Classic.
The 40mm Galaxy Watch5 features a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display, while the display on the 44mm one measures 1.4-inches. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro, which comes in a single 45mm variant, also features a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED display. And both the Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro have sapphire crystal glass which offers 60 per cent scratch resistivity than the glass used in the previous generations.
The Galaxy Watch 5 comes in four colours – Graphite, Silver, Sapphire and Pink Gold. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has two colour options: Black Titanium and Grey Titanium.
Samsung Galaxy Watch5 vs Galaxy Watch5 Pro: Health and fitness tracking
For starters, Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro run the new OneUI Watch 4.5 based on Google’s WearOS. And they also have a plethora of sensors, including a 3-in-1 BioActive health sensor with heart rating and SpO2 monitoring and body composition analysis via BIA, as well as a brand new skin temperature sensor.
For fitness enthusiasts, both smartwatches offer dozens of workout modes. But the Galaxy Watch5 Pro offers one ‘Pro’ feature – GPX – allowing users to track their route, trace their steps, navigate and to share their location with others.
Samsung Galaxy Watch5 vs Galaxy Watch5 Pro: Battery Life
The 40mm version of the Watch 5 boasts a 284mAh battery, while the 44mm comes with a 410mAh. Samsung promises up to 50 hours of battery life on the both. The Galaxy Watch5 Pro has a 590mAh battery, which is rated for 80 hours.
The two watches offer fast charging, so one can have 8 hours of battery life in 8 minutes. It takes 30 minutes to charge the battery to 45%.
Samsung Galaxy Watch5 vs Galaxy Watch5 Pro: Price
The Galaxy Watch5 comes at $280 (Rs 22,306) for the Bluetooth-only variant while the LTE variant is priced at $330 (Rs 26,290). Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro comes at $450 (Rs 35,850) for the Bluetooth one and the LTE variant is for $500 (Rs 39,833).
