Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 vs Xiaomi MIX Fold 2: Two latest foldables compared – Times of India
Two new foldables have arrived in the market – Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4 and MIX Fold 2 from Xiaomi. While Samsung Galaxy Z Fold will launch globally, Xiaomi has launched MIX Fold 2 in China only so far. It remains to be seen if the phone will launch outside the company’s home market. However, MIX Fold 2 definitely shows Xiaomi’s plans for the foldable market and what the company may have for buyers.
The new foldable phones from Xiaomi and Samsung share some similar specifications but are different in their own way. So, let us compare the two of the latest foldables and find how Xiaomi’s second attempt at foldable smartphones holds against Samsung’s fourth-gen foldable.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 vs Xiaomi MIX Fold 2: Design and display
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 are book-like foldable smartphones with an inner folding design. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 measures 14.2mm when folded while the MIX Fold 2 measures at 11.2mm. Moreover, the MIX Fold 2 is a little taller and broader while weighing almost the same.
The Galaxy Fold4 features a 6.2-inch HD+ AMOLED outer display with 120Hz dynamic refresh rate and inside it has a 7.6-inch QXGA+ AMOLED with a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate and HDR10+ support.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 comes with a 6.56-inch outer display with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. On the inside, the MIX Fold 2 features a 8.02-inch OLED LTPO 2.0 panel with 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
Both the phones offer Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the outer glass and Schott ultra thin glass on the inside.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 vs Xiaomi MIX Fold 2: Performance
Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor powers both the foldables. Furthermore, the two offer up to 12GB RAM and a maximum of 1TB of internal storage.
A 4400mAh battery backs up the Galaxy Z Fold4 while the MIX Fold 2 comes with a slightly bigger 4500mAh battery. The charging on the Galaxy Z Fold4 tops out at 25W while the MIX Fold 2 supports 67W fast charging.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 comes with Android 12L based OneUI 4.1.1 while MIX Fold 2 runs MIUI 13 based on Android 12. The two try to offer some extra features for the folding screens but Samsung gets an edge over Xiaomi since the Galaxy Z Fold4 runs a more optimised software.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 vs Xiaomi MIX Fold 2: Camera
Samsung’s fourth-gen foldable comes with a more dependent optics than ever; it features a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto camera. The MIX Fold2 also has a 50MP main camera but it comes with a 13MP ultrawide and a 8MP telephoto camera.
However, Galaxy Z Fold 4’s 4MP under display camera could fall short of MIX Fold 2’s 20MP conventional selfie camera, which might give better results compared to an under display sensor.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 vs Xiaomi MIX Fold 2: Price
The Galaxy Z Fold4 starts at $1,799 ( Rs 1,43,000). Meanwhile, the MIX Fold 2 comes with a starting price tag of CNY 7,999 (Rs 1,05,600). At a comparatively cheaper price, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 offers similar specifications. Samsung offers a much refined experience with its fourth-generation foldable. But anyway, competition is good for consumers so in future we could have much more affordable foldables.
