Samsung is reportedly readying a brand-new foldable line this year

TL;DR

  • New evidence has emerged for a third foldable line from Samsung.
  • The new foldable device could be the first of its kind with a limited production run.

With the Samsung Galaxy S22 series out of the way and no possibility of a new Note series, all eyes are on the company’s next set of foldable phones. According to a report by Galaxy Club, Samsung is working on three foldable devices this year. The first two are obvious follow-ups to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, there might be a new entrant in Samsung’s lineup with a limited number of units.

The evidence for the new Samsung foldable comes in the form of a product code name. Galaxy Club found out that Samsung is working on three foldable devices codenamed  B4, Q4, and N4. The first two likely refer to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 as their predecessors were codenamed B3 and Q3. That leaves out the N4, which appears to be a completely new foldable device.

The reporting outlet notes that the N4 could be Samsung’s first rollable phone or a version of the Galaxy Fold with three displays. Samsung also showed off some new foldable tech at CES 2022, including “S” and “G” foldable devices that looked like phones and the Flex Note foldable laptop concept. The N4 could be any one of these devices or something else entirely.

For now, it seems Samsung is readying limited quantities of this N4 foldable. It makes sense if the device is the first of its kind, with a unique design that might or might not appeal to everyone.

There’s no word on when Samsung will launch any of the new foldable phones. August seems like the right time to expect some of them since that’s when the previous Samsung foldables cropped up. We’ll let you know if we hear more about this mysterious Samsung device.
