Samsung likely to launch two Galaxy A-series smartphones this month – Times of India

Samsung is reportedly working on expanding its A-series lineup with the launch of two new smartphones in India. The South Korean smartphone maker has announced the launch date of its upcoming A-series smartphones. The event will reportedly witness the launch of Samsung A54 5G and Samsung A34 5G respectively.

Samsung India has also dedicated a page for the upcoming Galaxy A series smartphones. The landing page reads, “Amp Your Awesome 5G” tagline and also states “Get the new Galaxy A and experience 5G the awesome way on 18th Jan 12PM”. This means that the company will unveil the Galaxy A34 5G and the Galaxy A54 5G on January 8 starting 12 noon onwards.

The Geekbench listing revealed that the Galaxy A54 smartphone is likely to be powered by an octa-core processor that might be coupled with a Mali G68 GPU. The SoC may have eight cores, with four running at 2.0GHz and eight possibly clocked at 2.40GHz. It also suggested that the smartphone could pack at least 6GB of RAM.
As per previous rumours, the Galaxy A54 5G is said to come equipped with a triple rear camera setup that might include a 50MP main camera. The upcoming phone is speculated to be backed by a 5100mAh battery unit that might support 25W of fast charging. The smartphone is also expected to feature a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It is likely to run Android 13-based One UI 5.0 operating system.
Samsung is simultaneously working to expand its smartphone portfolio with a number of Galaxy devices this year. The company is expected to introduce its next-gen flagship smartphone series– Galaxy S23, in February.
Samsung Galaxy A34 5G: Expected specifications
Samsung’s next mid-range smartphone may arrive with almost similar specs to its predecessor. However, there may be some variations to the upcoming device. The Galaxy A34 5G is likely to sport a 6.5-inch full HD+ AMOLED display that may support 90Hz refresh rate.

Previous reports suggest that the device is likely to be powered by the 5nm Exynos 1280 chipset. However, it is important to note that the South Korean variant that was spotted on the Geekbench listing featured a MediaTek SoC under the hood. The Galaxy A34 5G is expected to offer two different RAM and storage variants–6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB.
For photography, the upcoming device is rumoured to house a triple rear camera setup that may include a 48MP primary unit with OIS support, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP macro sensor. The device is also likely to feature a 13MP front shooter for selfies and video calls.
Samsung Galaxy A34 5G is expected to debut in four colour options — Graphite, Lime, Violet, and Silver. The upcoming smartphone is expected to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device may run OneUI 5.0 based on Android 13 out of the box. Apart from this, the smartphone is also rumoured to pack a 5000mAh battery that may support 25W charging support.
