Samsung may launch a smartwatch with rollable display
Samsung is reportedly working on a smartwatch with a rollable display. As per a report by LetsGoDigital, the South Korean company has filed a 96-page patent document was filed with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) for the same. Dated June 2, 2021, the document was released and published on December 9, 2021.
The patent image shows a smartwatch with a display that can be extended by pressing down the crown of the device. The watch’s screen can extend up to 40 per cent, as stated in the patent document. Users will also have the option to reduce/extend the display with a swipe movement on the screen.
The patent also suggests that the smartwatch will be equipped with an under-display camera. As per the report, it will be capable of capturing both photos and videos.
While this may be Samsung’s first smartwatch with a rollable screen, it will not be the world’s first. Nubia Alpha smartwatch comes with a long bendable screen. But the patent shows that Samsung’s technology is more advanced.
Further details of Samsung’s rumoured rollable smartwatch are not available right now.
Meanwhile, Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch the Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy S22+ and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones in February next year. According to an online report by Sammobile, Samsung Galaxy S22 could come with the same aggressive price tag as its predecessor- Samsung Galaxy S21.
The report says that Samsung Galaxy S22 may come with a starting price tag of $800 (Rs 60,644). To compare, Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 with the same price tag in 2021. Along with the alleged pricing, the report adds that the smartphone maker will also price the Galaxy S21 FE as its predecessor.
