Samsung OneUI 5.1 under testing, may release with Galaxy S23 series – Times of India

Samsung’s next high-end smartphone series, the Galaxy S23, is reported to arrive on February 1. While the new Galaxy S lineup is said to come with a bunch of hardware improvements, Samsung seems to have some software enhancements in the store, which it is currently said to be testing and may release with the Galaxy S23 series.
Rumours are rife that Samsung has been testing the OneUI 5.1 update for the Galaxy S22 series, including all three models – Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. The firmware S90xEXXU2CVL7, as per rumours will be released for the Galaxy S22 series a few days after the launch of the Galaxy S23 series. However, the OneUI 5.1 will first arrive on Galaxy S23.
What to expect in OneUI 5.1 update
So far, there is no word on what OneUI 5.1 will bring, but there have been rumours going around that Samsung might bring some lock screen customisation option with the upcoming update. Furthermore, OneUI 5.1 will be based on Android 13, so there will not be any major changes.
The OneUI 5.1 update could also bring the new media player widget of Android 13, which was not there in OneUI 5 even though it is also based on Android 13.
OneUI 5 was released for Galaxy S22 series in November after months of beta testing. The update refreshes the UI, and brings the expansive color theming of Android 13, among other Android 13 features, such as notifications permissions, QR code scanner, and more. Further, it adds stackable widgets, notifications UI, OCR text recognition, and improved Samsung Privacy Hub.
The Galaxy S23 series is expected to retain the same design language as the Galaxy S22 series. However, it may ditch the camera housing. There are some hardware improvements expected, including the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which would be paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
