Samsung reportedly developing a high-end chipset, the Exynos 2400

There was no high-end Exynos chip this year for the first time in years, and Samsung went all in with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for the Galaxy S23 series. But that does not mean that Samsung is not working on one. At least, that is what rumours say.
Notable tipster Ice Universe suggests that Samsung has a new high-end chipset, the Exynos 2400, under development. The tipster shared the configuration of the alleged chipset, which could have a 10-core CPU, up from the 8-cores we have seen on the last-generation Exynos 2200.
The Exynos 2400 will reportedly have a 10-core CPU – 1x Cortex-X4, 2x high-frequency Cortex-A720, 3x low-frequency Cortex-A720 and 4x Cortex-520.
That is all we know about the purported upcoming Exynos 2400. There is no word on when the chipset will come out or what smartphones it will power.
The last two high-end Exynos chipsets, the Exynos 2100 and Exynos 2200, powered the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22. However, it is unlikely that Samsung will use the Exynos 2400 for the Galaxy S24, considering the next of the Galaxy S series is rumoured to come with Qualcomm chipsets.
Even if the Exynos 2400 powers the Galaxy S24 series, it may only be made available in selected regions, similar to what we have seen with the Exynos 2200-powered Galaxy S22 series, which was only available in Europe. Meanwhile, other regions will get the Snapdragon-powered variant.
There have been rumours of Samsung abandoning the Exynos platform, but as per the Korean publication, Samsung has denied the rumours. But, it has reportedly pushed back on the plans of a new high-end chipset, which may now come in late 2023 or 2024.
For the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung collaborated with Qualcomm for a higher-clocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy” has a higher clock speed of 3.6GHz compared to the vanilla Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is clocked at 3.32GHz.
Rumours are rife that Samsung is working on a high-end custom chipset with a team of over 1000 employees.
