Second-generation AirPods Pro may launch in 2022 – Times of India
Apple is not going to launch the successor to its AirPods Pro this year, according to a latest report by MacRumors that cites Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
According to the report, the Cupertino-based tech giant is set to release its second-generation AirPods Pro next year. He also predicts that with the second-generation AirPods Pro next year will boost shipments to more than 100 million.
This year, Kuo predicts that the demand for AirPods is set to be “lower-than-expected” as he has revised his earlier forecast from 75-85 million to 70-75 million.
Next-generation AirPods Pro may come with health features
A most recent tip about the successor to Apple AirPods Pro was that they will come with updated motion sensors with a focus on fitness tracking.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Apple’s vice president of technology, Kevin Lynch, hinted that the company could use sensor fusion with AirPods to provide more health data to customers.
Prior to that, a report by MacRumors that cites piece of news by DigiTimes, claimed that the AirPods from the iPhone maker in the coming 1-2 years, are likely to house ambient light sensors (ALS). A separate report by DigiTimes also suggests that this alleged sensor will be a component part of biometric measurements. As per this report the ASE Technology is said to apply its SESUB (semiconductor embedded in substrate)-based SiP packaging technology to AirPods.
“ASE has combined SiP with embedded AI design for TWS gears, allowing the devices to monitor heart rates, step counts and health conditions and even to conduct intelligent translation and detect head motions,” said the report.
