Snapchat is bringing this much-awaited feature for its users – Times of India
Snap Inc. has said that it is going to let Snapchat users change their usernames, as per a report by Engadget. The company has been testing this feature for a while and will launch it on Android and iOS on February 23, 2022.
With the new feature, you won’t have to worry about creating a new Snapchat account with a new handle and will be able to give a new username to your already existing account. However, there is a caveat. You’ll be able to change the username only once a year, so give the new username you are going to give some serious thought before finalising it. To change your username, go to your profile and open settings. There, tap ‘Username’ and then select the ‘Change Username’ option.
The company had earlier announced two features aimed at the security of teens using the platform. The features, the company claimed, will help protect teens from strangers, potential harassment and drugs.
One of these features was added to friend suggestion feature Quick Add to bolster protection for 13 to 17 year olds on the platform. The feature will restrict Snapchat from showing users in the age of 13-17 friend suggestions to others, unless they have a set of mutual friends. As for the drug-related issue, the company said that it’s made some progress with its drug-detecting algorithms, with the current upgrade to its machine learning and AI algorithm claimed to give 33% increase in detection since the last update.
