Snapchat might soon introduce its in-app subscription plan – Times of India
Today in the age of subscriptions, when everything is on a monthly subscription, from movies to games and maybe even iPhones someday, how can social media apps be left behind? Well, they are not. Telegram was the first to jump on the subscription bandwagon, and now Snapchat has been reportedly working on a subscription plan with its own set of exclusive features.
The news comes from Alexassandro Paluzzi, a noted developer who has been actively tipping yet-to-be-released features of several social media apps for some time now. Alessandro shared the screenshots of Snapchat’s subscription plan on Twitter, suggesting that the social media app is working to bring its subscription plan, allegedly called ‘Snapchat+.’ The screenshots shared by Paluzzi shows us what could be the features and pricing of the Snapchat+.
What to expect from Snapchat+?
The description for Snapchat+ reads, “exclusive, experimental and pre-release features,” which means users subscribing to the paid tier of the app would get access to some exclusive features, including features which are still under development or beta stage.
As for the pricing, the Snapchat+ would be available in three subscription plans – 1 month, 6 months and 12 months. Users would be able to subscribe to the 1-month plan at EUR 4.59 (Rs 375) per month and 6 months plan for EUR 24.99 (Rs 2044), while a year’s subscription would cost EUR 45.99 (Rs 3,762). Further, the screenshot shows that users can also avail a week’s trial before committing to the subscription.
The tweets also give us an idea of what features Snapchat+ could offer initially. First, users would be able to pin any of their friends as their ‘#1 BFF.’ There are more features such as users could check their friend’s whereabouts in the last 24 hours, and you would also be able to see who all have rewatched your story. Furthermore, users would get access to exclusive Snapchat icons, and the app would also show a badge that you are a Snapchat+ subscriber.
Snapchat+ still seems to be in a very early stage, and the company has never expressed introducing a subscription plan, so it might be some time before Snapchat+ becomes a reality. But for now, we know what it would bring to the table and how much it will cost.
