Snapdragon 898 flagship chipset set to launch during Qualcomm Tech Summit 2021, dates revealed | 91mobiles.com
Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line mobile processor family, the Snapdragon 800 series, currently has the Snapdragon 888 SoC as the crown jewels powering flagship phones. This chipset is soon to be succeeded by the much anticipated Snapdragon 898 chipset. The new chipset has now been confirmed to launch in Qualcomm’s Tech Summit 2021 scheduled to take place from November 30th to December 2nd, 2021. The current Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 888+ chipsets do duty on most of the flagship Android devices in the market and offer tremendous performance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and Snapdragon 888+ chipset are fabricated using the 5nm process and are 5G ready. With the onset of the Snapdragon 898 launch, manufacturers will shift to this new chipset for their 2022 flagship devices.
Snapdragon 898 launching soon
The Snapdragon 898 SoC from Qualcomm has a lot riding on it given the high standards its predecessor, the Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 888+, have set. Moreover, the A15 Bionic chipset with five core GPU and the Tensor chip from Google have upped the challenge for Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 898 chipset is expected to be launched during the Qualcomm Tech Summit 2021, scheduled to be held from November 30th to December 2nd 2021. Specific details of the launch haven’t been declared yet.
Gizchina reports that companies Honor, Xiaomi, Vivo, Samsung, Motorola, Oppo, Huawei, ZTE, Asus, Black Shark, Lenovo, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, Sharp and others will be competing vehemently to bring out devices running the latest and greatest Qualcomm chip once the chipset is officially announced.

The Snapdragon 898 will move ahead and use the 4nm fabricating process and the octa-core layout will follow the 1 + 3 + 4 architecture. The main core will be a Cortex X2 expected to hit speeds of 3.0GHz. The main frequency of the large core stands at 2.5GHz while the smaller cores will clock 1.9GHz. The processor will also comprise the Adreno 730 GPU and the X65 baseband with a 10Gbps downlink. The Snapdragon 898 is expected to be 20% faster than the outgoing Snapdragon 888 chipset.
