Solar eclipse 2022: How to watch
The solar eclipse will be easily seen and people are advised to watch it using filters like black polymer, aluminised Mylar, and welding glass of shade number 14, among others. The solar eclipse will also be live streamed on YouTube channels like timeanddate.
The start time of the solar eclipse will vary across different cities in India. In Delhi, the solar eclipse will start at 4.29 pm while in Mumbai the eclipse will start at 4.49 pm. Meanwhile, the partial solar eclipse 2022 will begin at 5.14 pm in Chennai and in Bengaluru, the start time is 5.12 pm. People in India won’t be able to watch the ending of the solar eclipse as it will be after sunset.
The duration of the solar eclipse will be over an hour in cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Whereas, other cities like Kolkata and Chennai will be able to experience the eclipse only for about 30 mins.
Solar eclipse 2022: List of countries where it will be visible
Apart from India, the last solar eclipse of 2022 will be visible in various other parts of the world. This eclipse will be visible in parts of Europe, the Middle East, western Asia, north-eastern parts of Africa, the North Atlantic Ocean and the North Indian Ocean.
The first location will be able to see the partial eclipse at 2.28 pm and the eclipse will reach its peak around 4.30 pm. The last location will be able to see the end of the partial eclipse at 6.30 pm.
Solar eclipse 2022: Visibility in India
In the north-western parts of the country, the Moon is expected to cover approximately 40 to 50 percent of the Sun when the eclipse will be at its peak. However, the coverage percentage will be lower in other parts of the country.
Solar eclipse 2022: List of Indian cities where it will be visible
A government release mentions that the upcoming solar eclipse will be visible in most places of India along with the four metro cities. However, there are some parts of the country that will miss out on the celestial phenomenon which include the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and some parts of north-east India like the cities of Aizawl, Dibrugarh, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Sibsagar, Silchar, Tamelong etc.
