stories: Instagram to soon allow longer videos in Stories

NEW DELHI: Instagram is all set to bring a major change to its Stories feature. The Meta-owned app enables users to post photos and short videos in Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Now, the social networking giant is now planning to increase the maximum length of videos in Stories to 60 seconds. With this new change the company aims to beat apps like Snapchat and TikTok.
As reported by 9to5Mac, as noted by an Instagram user in Turkey, the photo-sharing app is now notifying users about this new and upcoming change. Presently, users are allowed to record and upload a 15 second long video in Instagram Stories. But with this new change in place, users will be able to post videos to Stories that are up to 60 seconds long without splitting them.
The message received by users read,”Discover longer stories. Videos up to 60 seconds will no longer be segmented.”
The report also adds that Instagram is also testing a revamped interface for posting Stories which will make it easier for users to mention other accounts or add a location to a post. The company has not yet revealed as to when these new changes will be implemented or will be made available for all the Instagram users.
Recently, Instagram introduced a new feature called Playback. The feature will enable Instagram users to relive their Stories from 2021. As part of this feature, Instagram will share a curated Playback of 10 Stories for each user.
The photo-sharing app is also allowing users to edit, add or remove the Stories from their Playback list via their Stories archive. The Stories archive will pop-up within their Playback list.
Instagram users will see a message in their feed inviting them to create a Playback. Users can click on the ‘2021’ sticker if they want to view and share their Playback.
