Survey finds that phones with alert sliders are important to you

OnePlus phones are famous for offering an alert slider. Most of the company’s flagship phones have one that allows users to switch between vibrate, silent, and ringing profiles. Unfortunately, OnePlus decided to pass on the feature on some of its cheaper Nord phones. However, it looks like another brand might be picking up the toggle pretty soon. Word has it that OnePlus’ stablemate Realme will release a phone with an alert slider next month.

We know the feature is important to OnePlus enthusiasts, but we wanted to know just how much our readers value it. So we conducted a poll on our website and here are its results.

How important is the alert slider to you on a phone?

Results

We got almost 1,200 votes on this poll, and the conclusion is that most of the respondents (45.2%) think that the alert slider is nice to have but not a feature they can’t live without. Meanwhile, it’s a key feature 27.1% of the poll takers look for in a smartphone.

For 17.4% of the respondents, the alert slider is very important and they won’t buy a phone without it. Then there are also those (10.1%) who don’t care about the feature at all.

What you had to say

stuntman3000: I’m not even going to lie. This is literally the main reason why I’m going back to OnePlus soon. I never notice how much I used that thing now that I don’t have it.

Techngro: That’s actually a feature I would like to see become a standard on smartphones.

Jordi Mas: With my OnePlus 6 I use Tasker to detect the events of the slider and remap them so I can turn on the flashlight with the slider.

Dogeanimupower: It’s one of the things I’ll miss when I retire my 5T. I wish this was standard on most android phones. Imagine having this on a note 23, pardon S23 Ultra. S Pen, alert slider. Still missing the jack and the IR for remote control but you can’t have everything. I’m sure the slider that less space than a jack anyway.
