Tata electric car India launch on April 29th, could be Altroz EV or Nexon EV

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited has plans to launch around ten new EVs over the next five years. Recently, two new models named Tata Sliq and Tata Curvv have been trademarked(via) by the company. These models could be the name of the upcoming EV cars from Tata. Tata Motors currently has a massive 96.26 percent market share in the segment, way ahead of any other rivals. Tata’s electric cars are also the most affordable EVs in the four-wheeler segment currently in India.

Tata Altroz EV features (expected)

Tata displayed the concept model of the Tata Altroz EV in 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show and said that the Tata Altroz EV would debut “at the right time.” The Tata Altroz EV is expected to carry the same exterior design as its IC engine-powered sibling but with blue highlights on the interior, exterior, and alloy wheels.

Tata Altroz EV is said to come loaded with an updated Ziptron technology, the same that powers the Tata Tigor and Tata Nexon EVs. It is expected to offer up to 300km range on a single charge. The complete specifications of the Tata Altroz EV, however, are still a mystery. Folks at rushlane believe that it’ll come with a fast-charging feature, a 7-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system, and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The fast-charging technology will change the EV from 0 to 100 in just 60 minutes.

Tata Nexon EV features (expected)

Tata Nexon

The other guess and a strong one is the upgraded Tata Nexon EV with a larger battery. The Tata Nexon EV with a longer range has been spotted testing on public roads, which does confirm that the 2022 Tata Nexon EV may be in the pipeline. The latest Tata Nexon EV is expected to come with a 40 kWh battery that offers up to 400-450 kms range on a single charge. It will feature the Ziptron powertrain technology.

The long-range Nexon EV, in terms of performance, is likely to compete with mid-size SUVs like MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Creta and KIA Seltos. It is also expected to be proportionately larger than the standard Tata Nexon and have different front and rear profiles. The 2022 Nexon EV, in terms of exterior design, is expected to remain similar to its ongoing model.
