Tata Nexon EV charger damaged beyond by repair…by a cow
While the exact cost of the charging cable remains unknown, third-party cables can cost anywhere between Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000.
Tata Nexon EV charger vs cow: what could be the solution?
In a rather unique situation, the Tata Nexon EV owner took to Twitter to show the repercussion of a cow ramming into the EV’s charger while it was charging the car. The vehicle owned by Sumit was charging at home when the incident happened. According to the owner, a cow pulled on the charger while the car was charging. As an aftermath, the charger got aggressively dislodged from its position inside the socket.
The pictures that were uploaded showed that the charging connector was destroyed beyond repair while the socket on the vehicle itself seems to be fine. Tata Motors responded with a request to send over the details via DM to help the owner get his charger repaired or replaced. It is however unknown to what extent the damage has been caused.
Despite the incident being a standalone problem, companies will need to provide more robust peripherals especially when it comes to EVs. EVs take a substantial amount of time to charge even at a public fast charger, this greatly increases the chances of the components such as connectors and cables being subjected to external factors such as stray animals. It’s thus necessary to make such items more sturdy.
