TCL will launch two new smart TV lines for 2023, up to 98 inches

TL;DR

  • TCL has announced its first 2023 smart TVs, and they will be sold in two model categories.
  • The S-Series will be the new TCL budget TVs, while the Q-Series will include more advanced features such as QLED screens.
  • Pricing and release dates for these 2023 TCL smart TVs have yet to be announced.

TCL has been one of the top two smart TV companies in the US for the past four years. For CES 2023, the Chinese brand is revamping its lineup of smart TVs by grouping them into two model categories.

The S-Series will be for budget-minded consumers, while the Q-Series will have QLED displays, more advanced technology, and screen sizes up to 98 inches. All the TCL smart TVs for 2023 will have very slim bezels for their displays.

TCL’s 2023 smart TVs explained

The 4K-based Q-Series will begin with the 50-75-inch Q6 TVs, which will use Quantum Dot technology for a better color picture. Console and PC games can use the Game Accelerator 120 feature, which will allow gaming at up to 120Hz refresh rates (but at the cost of going down to 1080p resolution). The Q7 TVs, available in 55-85 inches, will have the faster Game Accelerator 240, with refresh rates up to 240Hz (again, with the resolution going down to 1080p). It will also have up to five times the local dimming zones compared to the 2022 TCL QLED TVs.

The highest-end TCL smart TVs for 2023 will be the QM8 models, which will range from 65 inches to 98 inches. It will use MiniLED “Ultra” technology for up to 2,400 dimming zones on the display. The onboard speakers will also include a built-in subwoofer, along with Wi-Fi 6 wireless hardware. All the new Q-Series TVs will be custom install compatible for people who want to use them for their home theater rooms.

The budget-themed S-Series TVs will include the 720p S2 models, the 1080p S3 TVs, and the 4K S4 products. The S4 televisions will get the best features, including support for Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. The S-Series TVs will range from 32 inches to 85 inches.

TCL has used both the Roku and Google TV smart TV operating systems for its previous televisions. It’s unclear which of these smart TV platforms will be installed in the new TCL smart TVs at the time of writing. TCL currently doesn’t have plans to launch an 8K TV in 2023, as the company feels there hasn’t been enough growth in the market to support it. The company does have plans to launch its first QD OLED smart TVs this year though, and will reveal more details later in January. So far, the company has yet to announce prices or release dates for its new TVs.

TCL soundbars for 2023

Along with its new smart TVs, TCL will launch new soundbar models in 2023. Like the new TVs, the soundbars will be grouped into Q-Series and S-Series products.

The S-Series will feature solid power and performance for its price, while the Q-Series will have a larger subwoofer, separate tweeters, auto-room calibration, and more features. Again, specific prices and release dates for the soundbars have yet to be revealed, but we know that all of TCL’s sound bars will be priced below $250.
