Tcs: TCS set to close one of the biggest deals of the year 2023 – Times of India

Indian IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is set to close one this year’s biggest deal win. According to a report in The Economic Times, TCS is poised to close additional deals worth $1 billion with British retailer Marks & Spencer in the next few weeks. The report quotes people aware of the developments. The company is also reportedly in line to renew its existing five-year engagement with the UK-headquartered company.
The new deals in the pipeline are said to include mandates for business process services and digital transformation programmes, among others. These engagements are reported to be long-term, spread out over a duration of 8-10 years. These large deal wins are important at a time when global enterprises have turned cautious about technology spends.
Long-time partners
TCS has been a strategic partner to the global fashion retailer since the year 2018. The company has since worked on human resource solutions addressing over 80,000 employees as well as a solution using the Oracle supply chain management platform. TCS was also designated as a strategic technology partner as it helped M&S transition to a new technology operating model.

In July 2022, TCS signed a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal with M&S aimed to transform the British retailer’s human resource operations. While TCS has worked on HR solutions in the past, the work for M&S, which has over 80,000 employees, is new because it is being carried out on the Oracle supply chain management platform.
TCS has been working with M&S for over a decade. The company also used Microsoft’s Azure Databricks technology to build a platform that gives M&S a complete view of its product line to inform systems operations and planning. The underlying principle was to enable data-driven decision support using out-of-the-box capabilities in the Blue Yonder Category Manager suite, eliminating numerous complex customisations.
