Tech trends 2022: We foresee accelerated growth in PC penetration amongst gaming enthusiasts, says Nitish Singal, HP India – Times of India

Times of India-Gadgets Now reached out to key industry leaders to do some crystal gazing and share their views on the trends that will dominate the technology sector during the year 2022. Here’s what Nitish Singal, Head, Personal Systems (Consumer), HP India, said:
The pandemic-induced lockdown has forced education, work, and entertainment to go online, causing significant growth in the PC market in India. One PC per individual scenario rather than one PC per family, trend has only been magnified during the pandemic. Basis the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) report 2021 Q3 traditional PC shipments has witnessed a rapid 30% (YoY) growth in Q32021, marking the fifth consecutive quarter of growth.
Gaming to take the lead
Over the past few years, gaming has seen tremendous growth across the world, and India has been no exception. The recently launched, HP India Gaming Landscape Report 2021 revealed key insights from the gaming sector that reflects on current trends and gives an insight into evolution of gaming for the years to come. India’s gaming community displays a growing preference for PC gaming. More importantly, 4 in 10 (37%) mobile gamers indicated that they would migrate to PC gaming for a much better experience. Further, basis the study over 90% respondents agree that the gaming industry is a viable career option. With the growth in the esports industry, we interpret the increased interest of gaming enthusiasts to pursue their passions, not just as a hobby, but as a more lucrative career option.
In 2022, we foresee accelerated growth in PC penetration amongst gaming enthusiasts. Laptops provide enhanced and immersive gaming experiences and are multi-functional in nature and that will drive growth for PC adoption amongst gamers. With more consumers exposed to PC, we will be looking at a PC as a more multifunctional device where the all-in-one device will help them power both work and play, including gaming, video editing, or content creation.
